Apple delays Face ID for iMac 2021

Apple’s 2021 redesign for iMac will reportedly not include Face ID as previously planned.

Apple has been working to bring Face ID to iMac, but a new report says the feature is unlikely to be released in 2021.

According to Bloomberg, Apple had is planning to incorporate iPhone-like user authentication with Face ID on the iMac, but not in the next update.

Now the publication, citing anonymous sources, says the functionality is more likely to be included in a second iteration of the design. It was previously expected that Face ID would also arrive on the MacBook Pro, but Bloomberg has no further details on that.

Recent reports suggest that the redesigned iMac in 2021 will look like a version of the Pro Display XDR, with its thinner bezels. The new Apple Silicon iMac is also expected to lose its famous chin and be released as a flatter device than before.
