Apple (AAPL) – Get Report CEO Tim Cook said in an interview that the tech giant’s decision to suspend blogging and social networking service Parler has nothing to do with freedom to word.
“We looked at the incitement to violence that was there [Parler] and we don’t consider freedom of speech and incitement to violence intersect, “Cook said in a conversation with Fox News host Chris Wallace.
Last weekend, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant withdrew the microblogging service from the App Store, saying Apple “had no place on our platform due to threats of violence and illegal activity.”
“Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety. We have suspended Parler from the App Store until these issues are resolved, “Apple said in a statement obtained by TheStreet last weekend.
The app was also deleted from Amazon’s cloud hosting service (AMZN) – Get Report, Amazon Web Services, last Sunday.
