Apple Inc. (AAPL) is facing a disruption in its international supply chain following a large-scale riot at an iPhone assembly plant in India owned by one of its main subcontractors, Wistron Corporation (3231.TW) based in Taiwan. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, December 12, 2020, was reportedly triggered by contract workers’ complaints about unpaid wages and working hours.
“We have teams in the field and immediately initiated a detailed investigation at Wistron’s Narasapura facility,” Apple said in an e-mailed statement. The tech giant added that it is committed to ensuring that all workers in its supply chain are treated with dignity and respect.
