A second Apple patent was published today to support future MacBooks with built-in reverse charging to turn on iDevices

One of the first patents granted in 2021 was covered in our report titled “Apple has been granted a couple of 2-way charging patents for a future MacBook Pro that could charge iDevices and more,” as illustrated in our cover graphic. The US Patent and Trademark Office has published a patent application from Apple for this same technology in a patent application titled “Wireless Power Transfer Devices and Systems”.

Apple’s patent covers a wireless power system that has a wireless power transmission device (which may also be referred to in some cases as a wireless power transmitter or inductive power transmitter) that transmits power wirelessly to a receiving device wireless power receiver (which may also be referred to in some cases as a wireless power receiver or inductive power receiver).
