A South Salt Lake City police officer was involved in a violent incident that erupted as a result of the sale of a botched iPhone. M. Haggard of the South Salt Lake City Police Department was spotted at a checkpoint on Friday, May 13. According to the Affidavit of Possible Cause, Haggard witnessed a violent confrontation between two people . Someone tried to escape in a car. John Iten was later identified as the suspect.
“Itenef produced a SIM card that the victim inserted into his phone. The victim believes that Iten used the SIM card to steal personal information and the resulting dispute, ”Haggard said in the Affidavit of Probable Cause. After the argument, the victim told Iten that he would call the police. Iten tried to escape but the victim stopped.
In the Iten procedure place both hands on the victim’s neck, thumbs on the air and pressure, ”Haggard said. The victim told police he became lightheaded and was unable to breathe. He hit Iten in the head to get his hand out of his throat. According to Affidavit, Iten is facing charges of aggravated assault.
