MOUNT PLEASANT, Michigan – Ten central Michigan cross-country runners, seven women and three men, earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors for the 2020 season. The Chippewas were part of the team (listed by year, hometown, major and grade point average): Lauren Beckmann, junior, Waterloo, Ind., Biology 4.00; Maddy Boyd, sophomore, Alpena, social service, 3.86; Alexa Davis, junior, Kalamazoo, anthropology, 4.00; Ana Garcia Arias, senior, Valdeorras, Ourense, Spain, mathematics, 3.92; Lauren MacDonald, sophomore, Mount Pleasant, dietetics, 3.94; Maija Rettelle, junior, Midland, mathematics, 3.60; Anya Turner, sophomore, Farmington Hills, exercise science, 3,560; Adam Rzentkowski, second year, Rosholt, Wis., Finance, 3.94; Zack Sleeman, senior, Davison, 4.00; Ben Griffith, junior, Livonia, business administration, 3.82. Garcia Arias joined the team for the third consecutive year, while Davis, Beckmann and Sleeman repeated each other. To be eligible for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and have participated in at least 50% of their team’s competitions.
