Reports from Korea, collected MacRumors, indicate that the iPhone 2020 will likely have thinner screens. They could also be more energy efficient.
This reflects a recent report from the Korean ETNews website, which claimed that the so-called iPhone 12 Pro models will adopt technology that allows touchscreen circuits to be modeled directly on the OLED panel without the need for a separate layer, resulting in a thinner display and lower production costs. ETNews said a lower-cost 6.1-inch model, presumably the iPhone 12, would stay with a traditional film-based screen. It’s not clear if thinner screens would translate into thinner iPhones overall this year.
