Latest versions of macOS Catalina Beta on the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, 2020

There are rumors that Apple plans to unveil a redesigned 16-inch MacBook Pro. Now, a new image discovered in the latest beta version of macOS Catalina 10.15.1, first found by MacGeneration, suggests that the unveiling of the laptop could be imminent.

The file in the question refers to a MacBook model called "MacBookPro16.1", as well as a thumbnail of what appears to be a MacBook Pro with glasses thinner than the current 15-inch version of the laptop. MacRumors has also independently confirmed that the next beta file for macOS Catalina contains the file, adding that images of the 16-inch MacBook Pro that were circulating in silver and gray are present in beta. It is unclear whether the redesigned laptop will feature the new keyboard mechanism with a scissor switch to replace the distressed butterfly keys on the MacBook Pro.

Rumors that Apple is working on a 16-inch MacBook have emerged thanks to famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo recently predicted this year that the 16-inch MacBook would be the first Apple laptop to use the scissor wrench mechanism, with technology finally making its way into the rest of Apple's MacBook lineup.

Apple is also expected to reveal rumors of its AirPods Pro, an upgraded metal version of its standard wireless Bluetooth headsets that also include noise canceling.
