Internet-based TV (IPTV) seems to get a lot of traction lately. With YouTube TV, Hulu TV, Sling, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV Now and a few others, it seems to be a relatively popular way to watch TV.
Hulu TV specifically, has reached more than a million subscribers today (via TechCrunch). The company reported in May that it had reached 800K, which means that they have 200K + subscribers in four months time, which is impressive.
However, that number is not surprising. Many of Hulu TV's competitors have exceeded the million number, with a few that hit more than 2 million subscribers.
The notable provider that remains behind seems to be Playstation Vue, undoubtedly because of its branding, which implies that it requires a PlayStation (which is not the case). It currently has just over half a million subscribers.
As someone who personally uses PS Vue, the branding bit hinders his subscriber file. Sony Vue or Vue TV would in my opinion be a better name.
