Ikea, a home furniture manufacturer based in Sweden, is trying to expand the line of Trådfri Smart Home Accessories to affordable smart switches. This report shows a smart plug accessory that was first posted on reddit and reported by the Swedish technical site Teknikveckan and can control "dumb" devices with smartphones and connected speakers.
The report details are rather sparse, as Ikea-goers discovered this product on the store's touch screen kiosk. According to images posted on the US model, the cost of connected outlets starts at $ 10 and the $ 15 option includes wireless 'remote'. Currently, inventory information is not displayed on the product page, but Teknikveckan expects stock information in October.
Trådfri Smart Home Lineup was originally introduced in 2017 and supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. HomeKit's support was added even in the firmware update last November. Since then, smart household products have become part of the most affordable home kit accessories on the market.
All Ikea's current Trådfri accessories can be found at Ikea's store, website, or Amazon.
