The Apple Store advises some of its customers who choose to pick up their iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max orders in the store, that they can not do so on Friday, because of "last minute logistical problems" that are likely to be related to a delay or a shortage of devices so that it arrives at the points of sale in time. But in most cases the delay can take less than a day.
An e-mail sent to the affected customers by Apple advises: "Unfortunately, due to some last-minute logistical problems, your order is not suitable to be picked up during your check-in time." Once your order has been picked up, let us you know by e-mail. "
The report continues to apologize for the delay and the company is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
The Apple stores that AppleInsider contacted all reported that there were problems with shipping "more than normal", which led to less than expected stock at opening. As a result, this seems to lead to the reports sent on Friday morning to some customers.
According to sources within Apple that are not authorized to speak on behalf of the company, the number of people who can not pick up orders on Friday morning is still low, albeit higher than in previous years.
However, all but one of the stores we requested said that shipments are still expected today for these customers, and that many of them are processed by shop staff during the afternoon.
The reasons behind the delays in picking up the store are probably related to problems with deliveries. UPS delivery updates began on Thursday evenings to update estimates for some users to a Monday night instead of Friday, although the courier claims this is an error.
