How to install, hide, and remove fonts on your Mac, 2020

Your Mac comes with a set of pre-installed fonts. However, many other fonts can be downloaded and used. You may want to add fonts on Mac when you design a poster, edit a clip-on iMovie, or just want to create an interesting Instagram legend. You can install custom fonts, then deactivate them and remove them. We will show you how you can do these three elements here.

How to add and remove custom fonts on Mac

The first thing you need to do is get custom fonts. On the Mac you can use the .ttf, .otf and .ttc font files. Sometimes when you download a font or font package, you get it as a zip file. Step 1. Start the Searcher on your Mac and double click folder of fonts that you have downloaded in the Finder. Here I downloaded Alex-Brush from FontSquirrel.

Step 2. Open Font Book on your Mac and click File from the main menu and select Add fonts from the drop-down menu.

Step 3. From downloads, pave the way for the police you want to install.

Step 4. The selection fonts are installed and you can see the fonts in your font book.

How to disable fonts on your Mac

Step 1. Select the Character font you want deactivate in the Font Book window. You can see your fonts in All Fonts or User in the left pane of the font book.

Step 2. Now you can choose Edit option in the main menu and choose it Deactivate the “Font name” family.

The font is not deleted. However, it does not appear in the application font menu. Fonts marked as “Off” in the font box are disabled.

How to remove fonts from your Mac

Step 1. Select the Character font in the Font Book window. and Right click by font to Delete fonts on Mac.

Step 2. Click on the Delete button. Fonts are deleted from the trash by the font book.

There is another method to delete fonts; versus choose the option File and click remove.
