Watch YouTube HDR videos your iPhone X

There is a whole YouTube channel dedicated to HDR videos, and the iPhone X can now display them as they are supposed to be viewed.

High Dynamic Range offers a wider range of colors than most displays can display. The OLED screen of Apple's flagship device is however up to the task.

The HDR channel is available for everye, but ly those with the right type of screen can display HDR videos. For example, an iPad Pro can display the Intro of God of War in 1080p at 60 fps, but can not provide color in HDR. But the iPhone X can handle it.

How to Watch YouTube HDR Videos

Those with the high-end smartphe from Apple can be sure that they see YouTube HDR videos with the maximum color gamut by tapping the triple In In the upper-right corner of the screen, select the Quality opti, and then choose e of the resolutis that include HDR.

Of course, not all YouTube videos offer this opti. It must have been created / filmed with a wider range of colors. Still, YouTube HDR videos are scattered around Google's streaming service, usually with the HDR in the title.

It is not known when this ability appeared in the YouTube iOS app. It has been noticed just today Reddit.

YouTube does not revolutiize here. Rival Vimeo added HDR support for iPhone X users at the end of last year.
