Twitter will not break third-party apps (at least not yet)

Twitter has pushed back today a change to its service that will prevent third-party applicatis from offering notificatis to their users. The services which Tal, Tweetbot, Tweetings and Twitterrific depend will always be closed. It simply will not happen at the beginning.

The replacement of Twitter may be completely inappropriate for the needs of these third-party developers. And deliberately. They are trying to get the company to change course.

Third-party Twitter applicatis require technologies from the company called Streams of Sites and Streams of Users to send notificatis to people who have their applicatis. These will be replaced by an account activity API. This might be able to do what Tweetbot, Twitter, etc., but they do not know: they have not been allowed to participate in beta testing now.
