Ken Segall, the man who invented the iMac name, says that Apple has blown it all up with the naming cventi of the iPhe – or a lack of cventi. He says it is cfusing, and mixing Roman numerals with letters, and making those letters seem arbitrary at best. He says in a blog,
The models from last year set new standards for complexity. We had an 8, 8 Plus, X and SE. These are two numbers, e Roman numeral, e letter word, plus an odd numerical gap between 8 and 10. Or, in Apple jarg, between 8 and X.
Now we have Roman numerals and letters, and the chances are that next year will be worse with the iPhe X2. He adds: "Then, a year later, the Holy Grail of bad naming of products will be within the reach of Apple, an iPhe X2S will ctain a Roman numeral, a number and a letter, all in e name." Yep . Good luck with that, Apple.
