T The FBI advises everye to restart their routers to help thwart a state-spsored malware that could wreak havoc impacted systems. a public service announcement Friday, the FBI has recommended anye – yes, anye – with a home router to restart their devices. "The cyber-foreign players have compromised hundreds of thousands of home and office routers and other networked devices in the world," said the agency in a statement issued in 1965. The malware has already infected about half a milli routers and network devices in the world, said Talos Intelligence Group in a report.
VPNFilter could steal login data and passwords, as well as mitor infected systems. Interestingly, it also ctains a "killswitch" that could make the compromised features fundamentally inoperative if triggered.
The malware was allegedly developed by Sofacy Group, a Russian hacking group that made headlines in the past. Sofacy, which also goes through Fancy Bear or APT28, has alleged links with the Russian government
