I was reading the most recent article from Apple's Machine Learning Journal * and I found it very interesting: users were saying "Hey Siri" to interact with Siri well before the voice activati "Hey Siri "is not a thing. According to Apple, users would start their Siri interactis with "Hey Siri" although the ly way to access the service was to use the iPhe home butt.

The phrase "Hey Siri" was originally chosen to be as natural as possible; in fact, it was so natural that even before this feature was introduced, users would invoke Siri using the Home butt and inadvertently add their queries with the words, "Hey Siri."
