Nikkei says the AirPods refill case will so be able to wirelessly charge an iPhone

A forthcoming versi of the AirPods refill case will wirelessly charge a compatible iPhone, according to Nikkei Asian Review although it is skeptical, as there is a good chance that the report is off topic.

The first paragraph of Cheng Ting-Fang and Lauly Li, in a report entitled "Apple will unveil iPhone wireless charging with AirPods":

iPhones users will so be able to wirelessly charge their handsets using the charging case The popular AirPods wireless headphes from Apple, according to an industry source familiar with the plan.

The report states that the case load could be available as of the end of this year, although the period is subject to change.

The report adds:

The development will add to the much anticipated AirPower Wireless Charging Mat from Apple, unveiled last year and will be released so, bringing the call of the Chief Designer Jy Ive in 2016 for a "wireless future" e step further. Apple has already stated that it was working a wireless charging case for AirPods that could also be completed with the AirPower pad, but it gave no further details.

It is not entirely clear if the report refers to the same case of AirPods charge as Apple presented a preview next to the iPhone X last year. Apple said this optial accessory will be launched in 2018 algside its AirPower charging mat.

Overall, it's a rather strange report that inspires a lot of questis. Could a user hold or put his iPhone against the AirPods charging box? The present case …
