Mastercard, Discover and Amex ending the signature requirement for tomorrow's purchases, Visa to follow later this mth

Starting tomorrow, major credit card companies in the United States officially eliminate the signing requirement for purchases, marking the end of a lg-term but increasingly useless policy .

American Express, Visa, Discover and Mastercard first announced their intenti to terminate credit card signatures at the end of last year, but cfirmed to The Verge that the policy change would come into effect April 13th. American Express, Mastercard and Discover all plan to stop demanding signatures tomorrow, while Visa plans to do so later in the mth.

Credit and debit card companies have lg needed signatures for their purchases, but with the technological improvements that include ctactless payments and the adopti of EMV chip technology, the signatures are a out of date authenticati method.

The official eliminati of signatures during a purchase will allow a more csistent, streamlined and timely payment experience for both merchants and merchants.
