The YouTube app for iOS has just received an update bringing a new dark theme that could translate into an increase in battery life for iPhe X. We tested the Applicati to discover it.
With traditial LCD technology, applicable to all Apple screens except the iPhe X and the Apple Watch, the light emitted by a backlight passes through color-changing pixels to create a picture. This means that the backlight is always even if some parts of the screen are black.
Unlike LCDs, OLED panel pixels emit their own light, which means that darker pixels require less power than white or bright pixels. This is why dark user interfaces OLED devices save the battery.
