e of Apple’s suppliers expects a year of lucrative activity in 2020 thanks to the wave of 5G smartphes that should enter producti, including the iPhe 12. China will lead the way with orders for compents necessary for 5G devices in early 2020, Apple is expected to place compent orders mid-year.
Apple supplier Taiyo Yuden Co. is producing ceramic capacitors for iPhes, other smartphe manufacturers, automakers and more and is preparing for a record year due to all the 5G smartphes and other devices that will be delivered next year.
As reported by Bloomberg, 5G smartphes use around 30% more capacitors than 4G smartphes and Japanese Taiyo Yuden will benefit from the increased demand.
Multilayer ceramic capacitors, or MLCCs, manufactured by Taiyo Yuden are building blocks of the modern world. Tiny compents in metal plates, they are used in electric circuits to stabilize the voltage and the flow of power.
Taiyo Yuden has had a record year of growth and revenue and next year should see ly this increase. Company CEO Shoichi Tosaka said Huawei and Samsung will increase capacitor orders as they lead the charge for 5G as he expects Apple to place compent orders in June before the flagship versis of autumn.
With 5G, a completely new design should be e of the other major changes for next year’s iPhes. Earlier this week, we saw what were claimed to be the first iPhe 12 case designs. The evidence isn’t as solid as last year when we saw the leaked iPhe 11 design in January come from a direct source, but that could be a glimpse of what’s going to happen.
We learned last fall that the iPhe 12 should have the “most advanced 5G chip” that will be provided by Qualcomm. Last mth, a reliable analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, shed light Apple’s upcoming antenna design for the iPhe 12 and forecasts for the compositi of the 5G iPhes in total iPhe shipments.
And Apple has reportedly told suppliers to get more than 100 milli iPhe 5G shipments in 2020, which would be a significant jump from 2019 numbers for the iPhe 11 lineup.
