Google halved the cost of the 2TB cloud storage plan and created a new 200GB opti. It also redid all of its line storage under a new Google e name.
The goal seems to be to make Google's storage offerings for csumers more competitive with those of Apple.
According to the plans announced today, a 200GB subscripti costs $ 2.99 per mth. Or subscribers can choose a 2TB plan, which is now $ 9.99 per mth. The previous plan of 1 TB Google Drive is no lger.
The basic offering of 100 GB for $ 1.99 is unchanged, as are its corporate storage plans.
These changes make Google's offer closer to Apple. ICloud storage starts at 50 GB for 99 cents a mth, 200 GB is $ 2.99, and 2TB is $ 9.99.
Just announced today, Google e is ly available a limited basis. But that will change because it will apparently replace Google Drive. The company notes: "If you have a paid Drive storage plan, you will be automatically upgraded to Google e in the next few mths."
Google e has other advantages:
New plans can be shared. "e of the most comm requests we have received is that storage plans can be shared within a family. With Google e, you can add up to five members of your family to your package and simplify storage under e bill. Everye has their own private storage space as well as the added benefits of Google e, "says Pavni Diwanji, vice president and head of the service, in a blog post
