Previously limited to 24 markets, 5G Evoluti technologies were recently activated in 117 markets in the United States and Puerto Rico, offering significantly improved data transfer speeds up to 400 megabits per secd.
Although not compliant with 3GPP's 5G specificati, 5G Evoluti combines existing 4G technologies to achieve faster speeds and serves as a springboard to complete mobile capabilities. AT & T plans to use the expanding interim protocol network as a foundati for a truly 5G cellular deployment that will begin in 2018.
