Apple to release the first ARM of Mac without the Intel processor in the next 18 mths, predicts Kuo

Ming-Chi Kuo is out with a new analyst note today, and the most interesting part of his predictis, is that Apple is going to release its first Mac with an ARM processor in the first half of 2021.

Kuo is expected that e of Apple’s new products to be released in the next 12 to 18 mths will be a Mac with a processor house, instead of using an Intel PROCESSOR. There have been more and more reports in the last two years about Apple making the switch to a custom-designed ARM processor for its Mac and today’s report gives a ccrete timetable for when to expect the launch.

Since the outbreak of coravirus, Kuo points out that Apple has been “more aggressive” with its funding for research, development and producti of 5nm process for chips that should appear in the first Macs with ARM Processors. This is because 5nm chips will be an integral part of the iPhone, the iPad, later this year, as well as the Mac are delivered in 2021.

Apple is said to be using CHPT as a supplier for the 5nm chips with shipments to be taken in mid-2020. In additi to Apple using the 5nm custom chips for its first ARM Mac by 2021, Kuo said that the flagship 2020 iPhone range as well as new mini-LED iPad wait until the end of 2020 to early 2021 will feature the new 5nm process for chips.
