Apple Maps reorganize to suck less

Apple began collecting its own data the US road network, rather than purchasing this information from other companies. The goal is to significantly improve Apple Maps.

This applicati was a disaster when it was launched 6 years ago, and although there have been significant improvements, it has been the target of jokes ever since. Apple wants to change that.

Apple Maps Operates Millis of iPhones

Until now, Maps has not taken advantage of the data-gathering capabilities of millis of GPS-enabled iPhones the road to at a given moment. Instead, the data comes from OpenStreetMap, TomTom, and similar services.

The Google Maps road data comes from Android devices, but Google is very cavalier about gathering information from users. Apple takes the privacy of iPhone owners much more seriously, and so using them to fill its mapping software will have to be de with great care, according to TechCrunch .

Using iOS devices for real-time updates will dramatically increase the speed of map updates. It should also improve traffic data, which Apple is currently getting from third-party companies.
