It is said that Apple is working a new family of devices that, according to a decidedly sparse report, combines the technology of iOS and Mac device queues.

According to 9to5Mac the project, known internally as "Star", involves prototypes sporting a screen touch, a SIM card slot, GPS, compass and water resistant case. A small batch of these "N84" devices was manufactured by the Apple Pegatr supplier and shipped to the company's headquarters in Cupertino.

No source is cited and the report provides very little detail the Star initiative, which makes it difficult to determine what can be ccluded from the information provided.

The report does not menti the screen size, processor design, or format, which is perhaps the most important, if the device includes a keyboard. He thinks, however, that Star could be the banner under which Apple is developing a widely used ARM-based MacBook or, alternatively, an iOS laptop. The manner in which the publicati reached these cclusis is not reported.

Outstanding prototypes start using an Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) such as Apple's current Intel-based Macs, which, according to the report, indicates a MacBook powered ARM cvertible. However, it is said that machines run a "derivative" of iOS, not macOS.
