Apple announces lower HomePod orders due to weak demand

Apple's first foray into the smart speaker business is not going as planned, the company would have lowered HomePod sales forecast and reduced orders for the device because of the weakness demand.

Citing sources close to the subject, Bloomberg reports that Apple cut Inventec's HomePod orders at the end of March, less than two mths after the loudspeakers were been sold.

Originally scheduled for sale in December in time for the lucrative holiday seas, HomePod was delayed last year. When the device was finally pre-ordered in January, it captured about a third of the smart speaker market, according to the report, citing Slice Intelligence statistics.

The rebound in pent-up demand will not last, however, as sales fell significantly by the time HomePod reached Apple stores in February. In its first ten weeks of sales, HomePod accounted for ly 10% of the market for smart speakers, a figure overshadowed by the leader of the Amaz 73 segment …
