Facebook targets Pinterest users with its new “Hobbie” experimental app

Facebook’s experimental projects group, referred to as the NPE Team, has released its latest app today. Dubbed Hobbie, the application is designed as a way for you to document your personal projects and recreation.

As TechCrunch explains, Hobbie takes many cues from Pinterest, but it goes much further. It is designed to “help enthusiasts to organize photos of their own projects at the level of the themes of the collections.” For example, you can create different themed collections of arts and crafts, recipes, cooking, and more.

What differentiates Hobbie other Facebook apps, as well as on Pinterest, it is the absence of a social network. Overall, the app is there for you to organize your leisure and ideas, and the only social component is the ability to create a video “highlight reel” to share via other platforms.
