Audible's mobile app was updated this week to support OS 5 and was given the opportunity to listen to complete audiobooks without an iPhone nearby.
Books must first be synchronized via the Audible iPhone app, but the view will then shift completely to the Apple. In addition to the standard media controls, the playback options are speed, a sleep timer and a chapter list.
Users can also browse through all titles stored in a and delete those titles that have been completed or that occupy space.
Support for caching audiobooks and podcasts was one of the most anticipated upgrades in OS 5, which was released on Monday. It has supported music synchronization for some time, but until this week even Apple's own Podcasts app would not synchronize episodes of an iPhone. This was especially a problem for fitness enthusiasts, who often listen to podcasts during running and lifting sessions.
The Audible app is a free download and requires an iPhone with iOS 10 or higher. However, the associated service costs $ 14.95 per month after a 30-day trial period.
