Apple Store and the closure of offices in China because of sars coronavirus to extend a few more days than expected

We learned earlier this morning, via an e-mail to Apple employees affected by the store, and the closure of offices, because of coronavirus as the re-opening date of 10 February would likely be pushed back. Now, Apple has shared more details that the new plan is open most of the stores and offices by the end of next week (via Bloomberg).

A comment from Apple to Bloomberg echoing what the company’s SVP of people and retail previously told employees in a letter.

Bloomberg reports that Apple retail Stores in China will begin to open as soon as February 13, but will be a limited number of hours, with the majority of stores are expected to open again next Saturday. However, there may be a few shops that are open on February 10, as originally planned.

Less details are known on the re-opening of the Apple corporate offices and contact centres, but Apple has said Bloomberg they are on the same period of the opening back up next week.

As my colleague Ben Lovejoy shared this earlier today, here is the background on how coronavirus has an impact on Apple:

“The whole family, Apple is committed to helping our colleagues, communities, suppliers, partners and customers in China,” Apple said. “As we gradually return to work, our first priority is the well-being of our teams, partners, suppliers and customers across China. Our thoughts continue to be with the people affected by the coronavirus and those who are working around the clock to treat, study, and to contain its sp.”
