Apple quietly launched the iPhone 8 Logic Board Replacement Program. The exchange program will affect certain models manufactured from September 2017 to March 2018, including free repair and replacement of logic boards.
iPhone 8 logic board exchange program
Apple decided that iPhone 8 devices had very few logic boards with manufacturing defects. An unexpected restart or freeze screen may be displayed on the affected device. Apple will repair the target device for free.
The units affected were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, New Zealand, and the United States
If your iPhone 8 has an appropriate serial number, Apple will repair it for free. Use the serial number checker below to check if your device is eligible for this program.
You can check the serial number on Apple's program page. If your unit is eligible, you can get repaired with an Apple Authorized Dealer, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or mail-in repair arrangement.
TMO recommends that users with eligible devices use this program, regardless of whether problems are occurring or not.
