Apple and Verizon point to the failed activation of the iPhone XS activation

New owners of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are struggling to connect the mobile devices to Verizon Wireless, where the provider is having trouble activating the devices for some customers in his network.

Less than 48 hours after the release of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, Verizon subscribers can not connect their devices due to problems verifying their Verizon billing information. The details are needed to be able to activate the devices with the courier, but due to a malfunction in communication, the process fails for some users.

AppleInsider was approached by several people on Friday and Saturday and claimed to have iPhones that can not be activated because "Apple can not verify my Verizon billing zip code and PIN code". Neither Apple nor Verizon are willing to accept the debt, with the companies blaming the others.

ers are not the only ones who suffer from the problem, because Reddits on the Verizon subreddit reveals that others pass the same zip code and PIN code. Support teams from both sides would have no idea what is going on to cause this problem.

The same tips also offer a hint to a solution to the misery, where users apparently manage to activate their devices by plugging in various PIN and post code combinations that they had previously registered with their Verizon account. Firstly, the activation error suggests that the process retrieves the old address data from the corresponding Apple ID and not the current Verizon billing address, which would be a problem for anyone who has moved home in recent years.

The root cause of the problem seems to be a data mismatch between the two companies, but apart from trying out older log-in data and hoping it works, it is unclear whether both parties will solve the problem soon.

The activation problem of Verizon is one of the many events that have somewhat marred the launch of Apple's latest iPhones. Other incidents that have occurred include the pre-order system at Apple Store locations with a failure on Friday, reports to some customers that their pick-up order has been delayed, and errors with the tracking system of UPS with shipments supposedly for Friday have been pushed back to Monday.
