QUALCOMM announced a processor designed for Wear OS smart watch today after annoying this for several months. The Snapdragon Wear 3100 aims to place Google's smart watch platform on a map, not in a remote location third.
Highlight of new chip is battery life improvement. Qualcomm is committed to use for 4 to 12 hours, depending on tasks submitted to the wearable.
"The Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform collaborates with the new ultra-low-power system architecture and the latest features of Google team Wear OS to provide a rich interactive mode, bring a new personalized experience, extend battery life I did it for the smart watch of tomorrow, "SVP and GM Anthony Murray for Qualcomm's voice, music, and wearable stated in a statement.
The Snapdragon Wear 3100 includes a quad-core A7 processor, an integrated DSP (digital signal processor), and a new ultra low power coprocessor. It was used instead of QUALCOMM's Wear 2100 chip and it was outdated to be released in 2016.
Already, Fossil Group, Louis Vuitton, Montblanc are committed to using QUALCOMM's latest processors on smart watches.
Snap Dragon Wear 3100 Competition
The announcement of Qualcomm is just before the debut of the Apple Watch Series 4. This will be a new generation of wearable that dominates this market.
The Snapdragon Wear 3100 is likely to improve Google's sales of Wear OS, but that is a rather long way. This is not the second most popular type of smartwatch. That honor will be Fitbit Versa.
