A glimpse of the inside of Apple's large Arizona data center

Apple is very secret about the data center. For just good reasons: They are at risk from criminals, foreign spy agencies, terrorists and others. But the company sought a server farm in Arizona in a local newspaper.

This 1.3 million square feet facility in Mesa has Apple's global data center.

Apple spent $ 2 billion on the facility a couple of years ago, making it a cloud service monitoring hub. However, Azéentral On a recent tour, the server said that "iMessage, Siri, iCloud" data will be processed by the server.

About 150 people work at the mesa facility. People at the company's Data Global Command Center took a 10 hour shift to monitor the flow of information.

This is one of six US data centers. There are two in California, one in Oregan, one in Texas, and two in North Carolina. Two more are under construction in Nevada and Iowa.

The difficulty of shooting such data equipment is that it does not make very interesting pictures. A quietly humming, long rack of networked servers is what engineers want. But it is not exciting.

Apple data center problematic location

The building that houses all these servers departed as an assembly factory of First Solar Inc., but it was not used.

Then it was purchased from Apple for collaboration with GT Advanced Technology. This company was planning to produce an iPhone display of sapphire glass that was discontinued due to the abolition of GTAT.

After that, it became Apple 's data center. Everything tastes good until a fire occurs.
